Google wird Grün

Google kündigte am 27. November 2007 eine Initiative für erneuerbare Energien an. Wörtlich: Google "creates renewable energy R&D group and supports breakthrough technologies". Da wird viel geredet über Solar- und Windkraftwerke. Aber sind das wirklich "breakthrough technologies"? Mir fällt da eine potentielle "breakthrough technology" ein. Was, wenn Larry Page Dr. Bussard seinen Vortrag bei Google abgenommen hat?

"In 2008, Google expects to spend tens of millions". Was sagte noch Bussard, wieviel der nächste Schritt kostet? wenige Millionen US $ zur Verifikation, dann ca. 200 Mio US $ für den Demoreaktor. Das passt ganz gut zu "the company also anticipates investing hundreds of millions of dollars in breakthrough renewable energy projects". Natürlich kann man für so viel Geld auch viele "breakthrough"-Windräder kaufen. Aber vielleicht ist der Solar/Wind-Teil auch nur ein kleines Ablenkungsmanöver und eine Beruhigungspille für Aktionäre.
